Expansion to Multiple Opportunity Types

An electronics distributor operated in several businesses. They sold bulk components, packaged the bulk components and also created custom components based on design specifications.

Although they used Salesforce, nobody was consistently using the Opportunity module because it had been over-designed based entirely on the the needs of the custom component business.

We implemented multiple opportunity types for ‘Express’, ‘Mid’ and ‘Custom’ opportunities, each with only the minimum fields needed and taking into account how the three different groups worked.

The result was a consistent adoption in creating Opportunities and a much more useable set of reports and dashboards for management.
