Expansion to Multiple Opportunity Types

  • An electronics distributor operated in several businesses. They sold bulk components, packaged the bulk components and also created custom components based on design specifications.

  • Although they used Salesforce, nobody was consistently using the Opportunity module because it had been over-designed based entirely  on the the needs of the custom component business.

  • We implemented multiple opportunity types for ‘Express’, ‘Mid’ and ‘Custom’ opportunities, each with only the minimum fields needed and taking into account how the three different groups worked.

  • The result was a consistent adoption in creating Opportunities and a much more useable set of reports and dashboards for management.
